PROJECT GEOLOGIST

Key Responsibilities:

You would be a member of a team providing environmental consulting services ranging from site investigations to remediation projects. The key responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Perform field work including subcontractor management, logging soil borings, overseeing groundwater monitoring well installations, and collecting soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and air samples, as well as documenting field activities
  • Direct subsurface investigations and remediation projects
  • Ensure projects are performed safely in accordance with company and site safety standards
  • Assist the Project Manager and team in ensuring effective client and regulatory agency communication and relations
  • Willingness to travel to project sites throughout Illinois, Missouri, and Iowa
  • Maintain a positive attitude and be a team player

Skills/ Qualifications

Required

  • BS degree in Geology or Engineering or similar earth science or equivalent work experience
  • 0 to 5 years related work experience
  • Computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Demonstrated verbal communication and technical presentation skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with the ability/desire to lead tasks
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to occasionally work more than 8 hours per day when necessary for project success
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply State and Federal technical guidance, and regulations
  • Must pass drug test, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record
  • Must have a valid and current Driver’s License

Preferred

  • Prior consulting/LUST project management experience
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification (if not, will be provided)

Physical Demands

  • Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather conditions
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Working in a standing position for the majority of the field workday
  • Must complete employment physical demonstrating ability to meet job requirements, including the ability to wear a respirator, as required
  • Completion of annual or bi-annual employment physical, as required

PROFESSIONAL GEOLOGIST/ENGINEER/SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER – SPRINGFIELD, IL

American Environmental is seeking a professional with experience managing projects as well as a team of environmental professionals.

Professional licensure in the state of Illinois is required, or the ability to become licensed quickly.

New Hire Sign-On Incentive

Responsibilities for the position include the following;

  • Planning and directing subsurface soil and groundwater investigations and remediation
  • Experience in preparing plans, budgets, and proposals
  • Prior consulting, LUST, and business development experience
  • Understanding Illinois environmental regulations is a plus

Required skills for the position include data interpretation, technical report writing, and people management.

The position would include limited travel to job sites, primarily in the state of Illinois

Salary for the position is commensurate with experience
